Mini-session details!

I am so excited about our upcoming mini-sessions, if you haven’t been able to tell from my recent facebook posts. For those of you that don’t know me, I love vintage. When I go to weddings and there is lace everywhere, my heart warms a little! So when I went to the Madison wedding planner and guide and saw the beautiful designs of the talented Sarah of A la Crate vintage rentals… I was in love! It kind of made me want to get married again so I could have her do beautiful table centerpieces and accents.

So the next best thing would be having mini-sessions with pieces from A la Crate! I went and met with Sarah yesterday and we brainstormed some really great ideas and a set for the 2012 mini-sessions was born!

In case you have missed all the details, Mini-sessions will be taking place on March 10th and 11th. The cost is $125 and it includes a 30 mini-sessions with 3 digital images with permission to print up to a 8×10. You then have the option to purchase more prints if you choose, but no additional purchase is required.

Message me if you would like to reserve your spot! A $50 deposit is required to hold your time slot.

Have I mentioned that there will be a live bunny?

Little B is growing up too fast!

It seems like you don’t really appreciate how quickly time passes until you have kids. We spend our lives rushing through things, cant wait to graduate, cant wait to get married, cant wait to have kids… and then the kids come. Next thing you know, time is in fast forward.

So it seems like yesterday Brogen was in our studio being all cute and brand new, now he is sitting up and smiling smiling smiling! There isn’t a happier baby than this little guy. I was so excited to have him coming into the studio today (especially after spending the morning working on taxes).

As you can see we played dress up with so many cute hats. I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to use, so I would put one on him and then he would give me the cutest smile and how could I not take a picture!  So then it turned into dress up day (minus clothes on little B) with hats!

In 5 short months we will be doing his cake smash… slow down little guy!

Annie & Jesse get Hitched!

So a lot of photographers have a theme to their wedding blogs… So I have put a lot of thought into, should I have a theme? What should it be?? And after quite a few fabulous weddings last season, it came to me. At every wedding I learn something, or see something that I want to share with other couples. So let the lessons begin as SCHOOL IS NOW IN SESSION!

So Annie & Jesse’s wedding… I loved so much of this wedding. The cute church in Evansville, the wonderful Pastor did a great service, Tina taking the boys up to the bell tower, the triple unity candles (on each side of their unity candle was their parents unity candles… I loved this!!)… I could go on and on. Annie was so organized so I took 2 lessons away from Annie & Jesse’s wedding. #1 have someone designated to pick up the church after the pictures are done. I didnt have to suggest to ushers to clean up ripped up aisle runners, or make sure someone grabbed unity candles.. It was all taken care of. #2 I have a huge love for off season weddings! Tina and I were just itching for a wedding, tortured this couple quite a bit (they were such troopers!) and the weather was great! No snow, which could have been beautiful… but so many people avoid the off months and this wedding proved it to be fabulous!

Thank you Annie & Jesse for allowing us to be part of your beautiful day!

Little Felix and Porter!

I had the pleasure to have these little 5 day old boys in the studio last week, along with their very proud sister! It has been a while since I have photographed newborn twins and I just love love love how they interact with each other! One of my favorite images that is in the slide show is the one that looks like Porter is biting Felix and Felix is yelling. Of course its just Porter sucking on Felix and Felix happened to yawn… It still makes me laugh every time and I kind of want to caption it with something funny…

These little guys just celebrated their 2 week birthday and time is going by way too fast. Slow down little guys!

The power of friendship: A Surrogacy Journey Part 2!

This has been hands down, one of the most amazing things I have been able to document. Birth photography is not for everyone, such a personal decision. I personally don’t think I would have a desire for documentation of any of my children’s births. That was until I got to document this families birth story… now I have a love for it and I don’t think I realized all the amazing emotions that goes on in a room following a birth (cause being in pain and drugged up… kind of not aware of your surroundings!). Getting totally off topic here because this story is so different. #1 I was not in the room for the actual birth of the boys as they had to be delivered in the OR. #2 This was not your typical pregnancy. This family got to bring these little boys in the world through the gift of surrogacy. Their story is personal, and only for them to share, so I will tell the story the best way I know how, with images. I did the best I can to capture the emotion in the room, the tears, the joy… But there was no way for me to capture it all. There was so much joy in this room for these little men.
A special thank you to Elle and Scott for allowing me to be there, and to all involved for making this possible. And of course Danielle for being so selfless and brave to endure such a task to bring never ending joy into someones life.

My adorable Tina

So as many of you may know, my adorable Tina is heading north, much to my sadness and is leaving me to fly solo at the studio. She isnt going far, but far enough that we can no longer play together as often as we would like. Nothing will be changing as far as wedding photography, so couples, Dont Panic! Tina will still be taking on future weddings with us as well. She will also be joining me for our 2012 senior sessions which will be starting in March!
Tina has decided to start her own portrait business in her new hometown, so make sure you go and like her new facebook page, Crazy Daisy Photography!
As many of us can relate, changes, even when they are for the better, can be a difficult thing to adjust to. Tina needs our support now as she goes through this transition so please, if you see her, give her an extra hug! If you are not the hugging type, she also loves chocolate, cheesecake, and long walks on the beach.
I am very sad that I am not going to be seeing her as much, but photography will still go on. Just a warning, if you are standing in front of my camera and catch me staring at you with a blank expression on my face its probably because I am asking myself WWTD? Then it will come to me, and a beautiful portrait will be created.
Thank you for you support through these changes!

And now… some of my favorite Tina moments….
